Question 1

What are advanced technical ceramics?

Accepted Answer

Advanced technical ceramics are engineered inorganic, non-metallic materials with precisely controlled compositions and microstructures. They exhibit superior mechanical, thermal, electrical, and chemical properties compared to conventional ceramics. Common materials include alumina (Al₂O₃), zirconia (ZrO₂), silicon carbide (SiC), silicon nitride (Si₃N₄), aluminum nitride (AlN), and boron nitride (BN).

Question 2

What machining tolerances can be achieved with precision ceramics?

Accepted Answer

Precision ceramic components can achieve dimensional tolerances of ±0.003 mm for linear dimensions, roundness accuracy within 0.0005 mm, parallelism within 0.002 mm, and surface finishes down to Ra 0.02 μm. Thin-wall structures down to 0.3 mm and micro-features including holes as small as Ø 0.1 mm are producible.

Question 3

What is the difference between alumina and silicon carbide ceramics?

Accepted Answer

Alumina (Al₂O₃) has hardness ≥1500 HV, thermal conductivity 27 W/m·K, flexural strength 370 MPa. Silicon carbide (SiC) has hardness ≥2200 HV, thermal conductivity 120 W/m·K, flexural strength 450 MPa. SiC offers superior thermal shock resistance and better performance in fluorine-based plasma environments.

Question 4

What industries use precision ceramic components?

Accepted Answer

Precision ceramics are used in semiconductor manufacturing (focus rings, showerheads), aerospace (turbine seals), medical devices (surgical instruments, implants), optical communication (ceramic ferrules), power electronics (IGBT substrates), and industrial machinery (bearing balls, wear-resistant parts).

Question 5

What is the ceramic manufacturing process?

Accepted Answer

The process includes: (1) Drawing review and DFM feedback within 24 hours; (2) Material sourcing; (3) Green-state forming via dry pressing, isostatic pressing, or extrusion; (4) Sintering at 1400-2000°C+; (5) Precision diamond machining; (6) In-line inspection; (7) Final CMM verification. Material shrinkage of 15-20% during sintering is accounted for.

Question 6

What quality certifications does Korecera maintain?

Accepted Answer

Korecera maintains ISO 9001:2015 certification. The facility uses CMM with ±0.003 mm accuracy, roundness testers to 0.0005 mm, surface roughness testers, and optical comparators. Each shipment includes dimensional inspection reports with material certifications and batch traceability.
